My
first day of the month quote from Jim Des Soye for November is
They're all sheep!
This
is something I first heard when I was very young, still living at the
house on Heinrich, and Dad was working as a welder for a company that
made heat exchangers. We ate dinner every night as soon as he got
home – 5PM. And as Mom and Dad talked at the dinner table, invariably the conversation
would include events of Dad's day at work.
Sometimes he was upset with management, and then he would be irritated with his co-workers for not also being upset enough with management to make some noise with him about it. “They're all sheep!” he would say – a herd blindly following a leader even if they knew where they were going was wrong.
Sheep did not exist just in the workplace either. Dad felt the same way about politics and pop culture and hype in general.

The
tone of his voice when he said “sheep” made me realize I would
not want him to ever think I was one of the sheep.
This post has now been officially rewritten 4 times and is now officially the one most difficult to have written. I'm going to leave it at this.
